Announcement of a change in Exhibition Safety Policy

While successfully setting up and running trade fairs remains our prime focus, maintaining an environment which is safe for all event participants – exhibitors, workers, visitors, customers etc, is of equal importance as far as the HKTDC are concerned. <br /><br />On seeing more and more instances where relatively primitive booths, despite single-storey by design, are involved very complex construction, the HKTDC would like to extend the scope of the prevailing Safety Report practice for all Custom-built stands exceeding 2.5m in height, using a hanging lighting truss and/or otherwise deemed required by the Organiser and/or the Venue Operator. All stand constructions must be conducted under the supervision of an <strong>Authorized Person/Registered Structural Engineer (AP/RSE)</strong> and he/she should verify the stability of the stand by completing structural safety certificate.<br /><br />By this policy, a structural safety certificate endorsed by an Authorized Person/Registered Structural Engineer (AP/RSE), should be submitted to the Organiser a structural safety certificate endorsed by an Authorized Person/Registered Structural Engineer (AP/RSE) at Technical Services Counter by 1500 hrs on the last move-in day. The Organiser will forward the original to the Venue Operator. If this rule is not observed by 2200 hrs on the last move-in day, the Organiser and/or the Venue Operator reserve the rights to prohibit all access to the Stand throughout the fair period.
