Following the launch of the world’s first coffee watch with a case made from recycled coffee grounds last year, Lilienthal Berlin is pleased to launch a new eco-friendly watch featuring a dial made from recycled tea leaves at this year’s Salon de TIME. We are happy to have been given a good opportunity to introduce our tea watch at the pre-fair press conference organised by the HKTDC. Media coverage and social media promotion highlighting our eco-friendly watch have helped to attract more buyers to visit our booth. Apart from promoting Lilienthal Berlin watches, we are showcasing two more brands, namely Detomaso and Yves Camani at this fair. We are happy with the quality of buyers coming from different parts of the world such as Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Mainland China, the United Arab Emirates, the US and Uzbekistan. So far, we have found potential distributors from Bangladesh and Israel. I like the Click2Match platform which allows us to schedule meetings with target customers in advance and meet them at the fair. This is our second-time participation in Salon de TIME. We’ll definitely return to the fair next year.

To help French timepieces companies develop the Asian market and promote their creative designs, Francéclat has set up the French Pavilion at Salon de TIME for the fourth time. Since French exhibitors were happy with last year’s results and recommended this fair to other industry players, we have expanded the French Pavilion by bringing nine brands to this year’s fair as compared to seven brands last year. Our pavilion has attracted buyers from different places such as Hong Kong, Mainland China, Poland and Kazakhstan. The quality of buyers is good. As Hong Kong is an important trading hub for watches and clocks in this region, we’ll maintain our presence in Salon de TIME and hope to bring more French timepieces brands to the fair.

Salon de TIME provides the most influential platform for us to announce the launch of Watch2Care TCM. In view of the fact that the growing ageing population is placing significant pressure on the healthcare system, we have invented this affordable smartwatch featuring digital pulsation analysis with TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) reports for preventive healthcare. To coincide with our product launch, a seminar entitled ‘Ancient Wisdom Meets Innovative Technology: Smart Wearables for Preventive Healthcare’ was held on the first day of the fair. We would like to thank the HKTDC for its great efforts to promote Salon de TIME and our seminar to both local and overseas buyers. Our team has introduced the features of our revolutionary smartwatch to hundreds of both local and international buyers at our booth. In fact, some of them visited our booth after attending the forum. We are delighted to welcome an existing US customer and his purchasing team back to the Hong Kong fair. We had serious business negotiations with buyers from Germany, Japan, Korea, Mainland China, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan and the US. So far, we have found potential distributors from Germany, Mainland China, Singapore and the US. We are excited that a Swiss watch movement company has asked us to add our smartwatch to their automatic movements. A buyer from Myanmar is also looking into the possibility of forming a partnership with us to develop a government project. The public can purchase our smartwatches directly during the fair period. We aim to achieve an onsite sales turnover of HK$1.5 million.

Since Salon de TIME provides the most important platform for Swiss watch brands to develop the global market, Pilo has been organising the Swiss Independent Watchmaking Pavilion (SIWP) at this fair for 11 years. This time ten Swiss brands are participating in the SIWP. Pilo is pleased to present the prototypes of a new collection called Montecrislo Monopulsante and finished products will be ready in the fourth quarter of this year. This new collection features a 30-minute chronograph with date at the 6 o’clock position and a monopusher at the 4 o’clock position with its dial available in five different colours including red, blue, green, black and dark grey. I am surprised to see that international buyers coming from Bangladesh, Mainland China, Pakistan, Türkiye and the US love this new collection which is unique in the market. Although I am showcasing the prototypes only, buyers from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Mainland China have already expressed their intention to place orders for this new collection. The full opening of Salon de TIME to the public allows me to collect consumers’ feedback directly and sell my watches to them. I expect onsite sales will increase from HK$180,000 last year to HK$250,000 this year.

Watchcatavlog created by myself four years ago is a YouTube channel for watch enthusiasts. I am happy to cooperate with the HKTDC for the first time to promote Salon de TIME to the general public especially watch enthusiasts through my YouTube channel. A large number of watch enthusiasts have been attracted to the fair by various YouTubers and social media promotion. I have invited four microbrands including No Identity and three Swiss brands – Squale, ZRC and Ollech & Wajs to participate in my booth located in the Microbrand zone at the fair. No Identity has attracted a lot of interest from international buyers coming from Canada, Indonesia, Mainland China, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan. Buyers from Canada, Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates are keen to be the distributors of No Identity. The Hong Kong distributor of the three Swiss brands is also happy to see that local consumers are keen to know more about the features of their watches. My first-time cooperation with the HKTDC is proven to be successful. Some local microbrands who cannot afford to have standalone booth already approached me at the fair and expressed their interest in showcasing their microbrands in my booth.

We have set up a pop up store under the theme of Guo Chao at Salon de TIME for the third consecutive year. Four independent watchmakers including Ma Xushu, Tan Zehua, Qian Guobiao and Gong Xun are presenting unique watches that incorporates hand-made and self-created movements with Chinese cultural designs. FIYTA is highlighting its new brand called Moon Yang created by its chief designer while ZBL ZBIOLAND is showcasing creative watches using space shuttle as the design theme, Snake watches and Harry Potter watches. Feedback from both trade and public visitors is better than last year. FIYTA and ZBL ZBIOLAND have successfully found exclusive distributors covering the ASEAN market. We are also selling our watches to consumers during the fair period. We expect that we can achieve six-digit onsite sales turnover, up by 10% over last year.

Israel
In business for 25 years, I am an independent watchmaker in Israel. Each watch collection tells a different story. My watches are sold to local watch collectors through my gallery in Israel and to overseas watch collectors through watch exhibitions in Singapore and the US. The Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair provides an important sourcing platform for me to purchase quality watch components and watch tools. I have found two to three potential suppliers of mechanical movements and watch tools after the Click2Match meetings. I plan to buy US$20,000 worth of mechanical movements and watch tools. I only make mechanical watches which are eco-friendly because no batteries are needed. I’ll also visit Salon de TIME to get more design inspirations and know more about the latest watch trends.

Bangladesh
We are a distributor and retailer of branded watches with 9 outlets in Bangladesh. To expand our business, we are looking for new brands and OEM suppliers at Salon de TIME and the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair respectively. By using the Click2Match platform, I have screened target suppliers online in advance and met them at the physical fairs. These business matching meetings are very fruitful. At Salon de TIME, I am very interested in three new brands which offer luxury and vintage watches. There is a high chance for our company to distribute their watches in Bangladesh. As our company plans to launch our own brand, I have identified two to three potential OEM suppliers at the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair. As a start, I’ll place an order for US$20,000-30,000 worth of complete watches after the fair. The twin fairs are important to me because I can find everything that I need. Consumers in Bangladesh like to buy watches which are regarded as part of fashion accessories.

Founded in 2017, our company has online and physical stores that sell fashion watches in Myanmar. We are excited to visit Salon de TIME again this year to meet with brand owners directly. Through last year’s visit, we have become the distributor of three watch brands including Saga, Arbutus and Mathey-Tissot in Myanmar. At this year’s fair, we are keen to bring two new watch brands including Lee Cooper and Maserati to our market. We’ll finalise the distribution agreements with these two brand owners soon. We’ll purchase US$600,000 worth of branded watches through Salon de TIME this year. Salon de TIME is more international than ever and gathers quality brands. We are also very interested in an innovative smartwatch which is designed for preventive healthcare. We’ll discuss with our local medical team and consider developing a government project based on this new smartwatch.

Japan
Citizen has 30 watch stores in Japan selling a wide variety of watches under 50 different brands. This is my first time visiting Salon de TIME. The Click2Match meetings arranged by the HKTDC are fruitful. I found two interesting brands which are new to the Japanese market. One of the brands was found in the debut Microbrand zone. I’ll place a trial order for US$6,700 worth of full-moon watches with a microbrand owner because the design is good and unavailable in our stores. The other brand features automatic and quartz watches with classic designs. I plan to place an order worth around US$33,500 with this brand owner. Japanese consumers like eco-friendly watches, so I hope I can find new designs at the fair. I would like to come again next year because I always need to find new products for Japanese consumers.

Top Ten Co. Ltd
Vietnam
Established in 2005, Top Ten is an exclusive distributor of famous Swiss watch brands in Vietnam. This is my fourth time visiting Salon de TIME. I am looking for suitable brands that can be added to my portfolio while meeting my current business partners who are exhibiting here. The fair also provides a good place for me to collect market intelligence and assess industry trends. This time I have talked to the owner of a Swiss brand which was distributed by me in Vietnam before and I consider renewing our partnership with this brand. In Vietnam, people prefer automatic watches and mechanical watches made by Swiss watch brands because of good quality. Solar-powered watches are getting popular in Vietnam because they can save the environment.

We are watch enthusiasts who always watch YouTubers introducing the latest models. After viewing the HKTDC’s Facebook page promoting Salon de TIME and some of the exhibits highlighted by several YouTubers, we decided to visit this fair together. This is an eye-opening event, allowing us to admire the exquisite watchmaking craftsmanship of various high-quality brands in an elegant setting and even interact with independent watchmakers directly. Some of the branded watches are available for public sale at the fairground. Exhibitors here have provided excellent service and explained the detailed features of their watches to us. A diverse range of value-for-money watches are on offer. We eventually spent nearly HK$100,000 on buying several branded watches. It is a rewarding experience! We’ll visit Salon de TIME again next year.
