The HKTDC Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair is the world’s largest event of its kind and has proved itself year after year to be an extremely effective business platform for the global timepiece industry. In 2012, it was attended by more than 720 exhibitors from 12 countries and regions. The 2013 edition will be the 32nd staging of this key show. It is a comprehensive fair that focuses on all sectors of the watch and clock business, including parts & components and machinery & equipment. The show attracts major global buyers with impressive spending power, such as Attos from the Chinese mainland, ChasOptTorg of Russia, Matahari Department Store of Indonesia, Momo of Taiwan, Prime Retail India of India and Toho Watch & Clock Co Ltd of Japan.
Magnet for Emerging Markets
Its Hong Kong location adds another facet to the event. Exhibitors can connect with buyers from across Asia, particularly the emerging market of the Chinese mainland. An onsite survey carried out at the 2012 show found that respondents were optimistic that prospects for the Chinese mainland market would remain robust and that they were putting resources into tapping this market. Sentiments were also positive regarding other emerging markets, including ASEAN, Central & South America, Russia, India and the Middle East.

The 2012 show attracted more than 17,500 buyers – a 4.5 per cent over the previous year. Emerging market buyers were up significantly, including Iran (+32 per cent), the Chinese mainland (+17 per cent) and Russia (+17 per cent).
