While staying true to its rich heritage in photography and film, Kodak is also widening its brand global reach to novel licensing categories such as luggage, solar panels, paints and fill lights.

The Licensing International Asian Awards recognise the highest level of achievements in the licensing industry in Asia, in celebration of excellence, innovation and creativity across all aspects of the industry. This year’s entries will be assessed by a stellar judging panel within the region. The Hong Kong Trade Development Council will become the co-organiser of the award presentation. The list of winners will be announced at the Hong Kong International Licensing Show on 27 April 2024 (Saturday).

Museums are increasingly embracing IP licensing to secure a sustainable future and expand their global reach, by capitalising on their rich cultural heritage and intellectual assets, museums not only achieve significant revenue growth but also attracts a wider range of audience. This licensing model has also found it way beyond museums to include conservation groups, enabling them to develop "Green IP" and diversify their sources of income for sustainable initiatives such as funding research studies and conservation projects.
 
During the session, Ms Zhang will share her insights into the application of the IP licensing model to the Narwhal Ocean Research Centre, a conservation group that has leveraged IP licensing to achieve their sustainable goals in marine life education and conducting marine scientific research. By leveraging this strategy, they have secured additional revenues while actively contributing to the protection of marine ecosystem.
 
Through collaborations with brands and initiatives such as location-based entertainment, themed events, and immersive experiences, Zhang has successfully broadened the appeal to both international and mainland audiences, particularly the younger generation. Leveraging her extensive experience in IP licensing, she will also shed light on how this strategic approach empowers the “Green IP” to explore global opportunities, diversify revenue streams, and ensure a sustainable future.

Brand licensing has become a sensation in the beauty industry. Many beauty brands have taken the advantage of these collaborations to expand their reach and tap into new consumer base. Even brands from other industries are finding ways to engage with consumers by entering the beauty world, creating additional touchpoints with their audience. 
 
In this session, our speaker Ms Jessica Qian, Director of Hasbro Consumer Products, Greater China, will share out-of-the-box collaborations. For example, the partnership between classic board game brand Monopoly and American beauty and cosmetic brand Bobbi Brown which combines beauty and fun, generating viral buzz on social media. Other examples include collaborations between Blythe doll and contact lens brand Bausch + Lomb as well as hair dye brand Henkel.
 
As these collaborations become more creative, the marketing approaches for beauty licensing are also evolving. There is a noticeable shift towards utilising micro-influencers and emerging brands, offering promising opportunities for IP holders, licensors, and licensees to diversify and expand their product offerings. To provide insights from the consumer's perspective, our speaker Ms May Ho, a renowned influencer and content creator from Southeast Asia, will share her expertise on creating compelling content for IP-engaged products or services.
