Shenzhen LED Home Opto-Electronics (LED Home) specializes in LED linear lighting products, focusing on the development of mid-to-high-end neon lighting solutions. With years of experience participating in the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition), CEO Zhang Zhen remarked, “For companies targeting overseas markets in the lighting industry, the HKTDC fairs are a must-attend event.”
Previously, LED Home primarily focused on the European and South American markets, including Italy, Germany, France, and Mexico. However, due to the recent changes in the international environment, the company has been exploring new markets, such as Dubai, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Russia. Zhang believes that Hong Kong, as a hub for mid-to-high-end markets, is an excellent platform for developing overseas clients. “The Fair offers great value for both exporting our products and building our brand overseas,” he said.
In response to the China-US trade war, LED Home is considering establishing overseas manufacturing facilities in countries like Thailand and Vietnam in the future.
Zhang estimated that the company would exchange over 300 business cards with potential overseas clients during the fair. He received many visits and inquiries from Dubai and Qatar, the company’s target markets. “We expect to secure orders worth around USD 2 million,” Zhang said.
Before the event, LED Home utilized the HKTDC’s eDM product promotion service, which generated over a dozen inquiries. Additionally, Zhang noted that the pre-event press conference was highly effective in boosting brand exposure, which led to a 10% increase in inquiries.
During the fair, the HKTDC organized overseas buyer tours to visit their booth, which significantly increased booth traffic. Zhang expressed his intention to continue using these services in the future.
LED Home also updated its product information and certifications on the hktdc.com Sourcing. Zhang specifically highlighted the valuable support provided by the HKTDC team: “They were incredibly dedicated, helping us upload product information, reviewing product photos and details, and even assisting with design.”
Zhang concluded, “We will definitely continue participating in the Fair.”
We participated in the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair to debut our collaboration with renowned designer Tino Kwan. We chose to debut at this fair because we believe it is an excellent platform to attract high-quality global customers, covering our key markets such as the United States, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, and Italy. We have already received enquiries from customers in these countries, achieving our goal of showcasing our work to an international audience.
This was our first time attending the Hong Kong Autumn Lighting Fair, and we received a high number of enquiries, totalling 50–60. As our company has strict requirements for potential partnerships, we carefully screen prospective clients and expect 10–20% of these enquiries to develop into long-term collaborations lasting 5–20 years. For us, this is a very high conversion rate, reflecting the high quality of customers at the fair. We are confident that these enquiries will lead to positive outcomes.
We noticed that customers visiting our booth at the fair demonstrated strong interest in our products, asking detailed questions about design, functionality, and more. This has reinforced our belief that the attendees of the Hong Kong Autumn Lighting Fair have extensive industry knowledge and significant potential for collaboration.
We utilised the Click2Match and Scan2Match tools to collect information on potential clients, and a dedicated team member will follow up with them.
The US-China trade war has had minimal impact on our business, as we do not simply offer products but also provide a comprehensive business system and customised solutions tailored to our clients’ needs.
If this exhibition generates positive responses, we will consider participating again in the future.
Signify is one of the market leaders in lighting. We recognise the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair as an important platform that connects the Chinese mainland with the rest of the world, including our target markets such as Poland, Norway, Finland, India, and the Arab countries. At the fair, we received enquiries from the US, Egypt, South Korea, Japan, India, the Netherlands, Finland, and the Chinese mainland. This fair serves as an ideal platform for Signify to expand globally.
The Hall of Connected Lighting and the Hall of Aurora are particularly impressive. I am pleased to see that connected lighting has its own exhibition zone at the fair, reflecting its growing importance as a market trend. The fair is clearly keeping pace with these emerging trends.
I have exchanged over 100 business cards with potential clients. We expect that the fair will lead to EUR 1–2 million (USD 1.16–2.32 million) in future orders.
Click2Match and Scan2Match have proven to be highly useful tools, offering an environmentally friendly solution that aligns with the global trend towards sustainability.
In terms of the US-China trade war, we are well-prepared with two factories in Poland to help alleviate the pressure.
I look forward to participating in the fair again in the future.
This is our first time attending the Fair, marking our debut at an exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region. We created various scenes, such as a café setting, presentation mode and shows to provide visitors with a fully immersive experience, showcasing seamless mode transitions and the smart, intuitive operation that we take pride in. During the first half-day, we spoke with over 100 potential clients and participated in about 10 business matching meetings. We also pre-arranged additional meetings using the Scan2Match service. Our potential clients come from a variety of regions, including Singapore, Australia, India, Canada, and Denmark. APAC is an emerging market for us, the Fair has been highly effective in supporting our expansion plans.
Our company specialises in emergency exit lights and fire emergency lighting fixtures, with over 20 years of experience in the industry. At this year's exhibition, we showcased new products, such as a wireless control system for fire emergency lighting, which we introduced to both new and existing customers.
The Hong Kong International Lighting Fair is a must-attend event for us every year. It helps us strengthen relationships with existing buyers and explore new opportunities. At the fair, we can connect with buyers from different countries, including the US, Canada, Germany, the UK, and Sweden, which are key markets we frequently work with. This exhibition has been highly beneficial to our globalisation strategy. Additionally, we are looking to expand into new markets such as Mexico, Argentina, and Saudi Arabia. The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) provides an excellent platform to connect with buyers from these emerging markets.
During the fair, a buyer from Saudi Arabia expressed interest in collaborating with us. We estimate that we will generate orders worth approximately USD 200,000 from this exhibition.
We utilised HKTDC's pre-fair online promotion services, including email and social media marketing, as well as updating our product information on hktdc.com Sourcing. On hktdc.com Sourcing, we updated our product details and certification credentials, including certifications for the US, Canada, and Europe. Additionally, overseas buyer delegations guided by HKTDC team visited our booth during the fair. These services generated over 30 enquiries for us and increased booth traffic by approximately 5–10%. The HKTDC team provided us with invaluable support and advice during the process of using the pre-fair services, for which we are very grateful.
We found Click2Match and Scan2Match to be incredibly useful tools, allowing buyers to gain a stronger impression of our company. We were honoured to be one of the most-scanned exhibitors at this year's fair. I believe these tools increased our exposure by 20–30%.
The US-China trade war has posed challenges for us, but we have addressed these by shifting production to Taiwan.
General Lighting is striving to bring fresh ideas to the industry and lead the global market. For this reason, we chose the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair as it serves as an excellent platform to connect with our target markets: the UK, Spain, Italy, and Saudi Arabia. At this fair, we exchanged business cards with more than 80 potential clients each day, including those from the US, the UK, Spain, Italy, Australia, and beyond.
Clients from various countries have placed sample orders with us, with a total value of USD 960: USD 300 from the UK, USD 220 from Italy, USD 180 from India, USD 120 from Mexico, and USD 140 from Thailand. I anticipate that these sample orders will lead to at least USD 96,000 in future orders—100 times the value of the samples.
The US-China tariff presents challenges for us, but we are able to address this by producing in Thailand.
Health lighting is one of the key market trends I observed at this fair, which aligns with our strategy of providing linear lighting solutions. I am pleased to see the latest technologies and trends showcased at the event.
Prior to the fair, we utilised eDM and social media promotions, and also updated our product information on hktdc.com Sourcing. The pre-fair promotion service provided by HKTDC was incredibly helpful. Over 30% of visitors to our booth had already engaged with us online before the fair, giving them a better understanding of our offerings and facilitating more effective face-to-face communication.
The Scan2Match and Click2Match platforms were easy to use and align well with the mobile-centric nature of our modern age. Our sales team will follow up with the clients we connected with through these platforms to further strengthen these relationships.
The HKTDC staff were exceptionally helpful. Prior to the fair, the service team reached out to understand our needs and provided substantial support throughout. We are very satisfied with the experience and will definitely participate again next year.
GRE Alpha, based in Hong Kong, has been participating in the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair for the past decade, as the Fair helps us expand into international markets. The US-China trade war has had minimal impact on our company, as we began production in our Vietnam factory 10 years ago.
We are very satisfied with our experience at this year’s fair and will definitely participate again next year.
Nicolaudie Architectural provides innovative and advanced lighting control solutions for architectural applications as DMX lighting control specialists. Having participated in the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair for 25 years, we have witnessed the progress and growth of the event as a perfect platform for us to promote our lighting solutions to a global audience and expand into Asian markets, especially.
Our experience at the fair has always remained extremely positive. Even on the first day this year, we have already connected with potential buyers from new regions such as Australia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, the US, and Europe. HKTDC’s events have been instrumental in promoting steady growth in our business development. Buyers we have met HKTDC’s fairs contribute to around 5% of our annual revenue of US$12,000,000. Based on past experiences, we expect at least 20 successful deals from buyers we meet here, mainly from the Chinese Mainland, India, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
The Scan2Match platform has been especially useful for both the visitors and us, allowing buyers who walk past our booth to easily access our company information. We've noted a significant number of people using it as they pass by.
Overall, the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair and the city itself provide the perfect springboard for us to go global and expand our reach in Asia. We look forward to continuing our participation in the years to come and growing our business through the connections we make here.

Through our advanced AI technology, users simply need to express their intent, and the system can automatically interpret and generate the ideal lighting effects tailored to the scene. Our booth has attracted nearly 50 potential buyers from the United States, Korea, Japan, and Southeast Asia within the first two days of the exhibition. We also successfully confirmed an onsite order worth RMB8 million with a Thai buyer. She remarked: "The market's acceptance of innovative products is growing, and we hope to provide more value to customers and enhance our market competitiveness through these new products."
Suqin Xin mentioned that the company has participated in the exhibition for nearly 5 consecutive years. Over the past two days, we have attracted approximately 50 potential buyers from Spain, Italy, Portugal, and South Korea, and successfully reached an intent agreement with one of them, with an estimated order value of RMB 3 to 4 million. Additionally, several smaller orders, each worth tens of thousands of RMB, are currently progressing smoothly.
Suqin Xin also learned about the HKTDC's online platform for the first time and believes its pre-matching function is highly beneficial, as it can increase opportunities for discussions and successful deals.
Lival is a leading lighting fixture manufacturer from Finland, specialising in downlights, spotlights, and track lighting systems primarily for the retail sector. Marking the company's ninth year at the fair, Marketing and Sales Manager Eva-Teckenberg Kettunen considers the exhibition a platform to connect with overseas customers, especially for those from Asia and Australia, for whom coming to Hong Kong is more convenient than attending fairs in Europe.
She also noted a noticeable increase in visitors and potential buyers at their booth this year. The company has established contact with potential buyers from various countries and regions, including India, Palestine, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Australia, and the Chinese mainland.
The results from the exhibition have also been fruitful. Kettunen revealed that the company is in contact with various buyers and is currently in the final stages of negotiating an order worth approximately €50,000, which is expected to be confirmed within a week.
Regarding the unpredictable global economic and trade developments, Kettunen finds the atmosphere at the fair optimistic, adding that the company is very likely to participate again next year.
Ledil Oy, a Finland-based company and the global market leader in optics manufacturing, considers this exhibition an indispensable annual event. As a veteran exhibitor who has participated since the fair's second edition, Business Unit Manager Tero Mäkinen considers the exhibition an important meeting point, attracting numerous customers from the entire APAC region. He noted that the fair's global reach is a key advantage, allowing them to connect with a diverse and international audience.
This year, the company has hosted a large number of visitors from the Middle East, Latin America, Australia, Hong Kong, and the Chinese mainland. "We have connected with hundreds of potential customers," Mäkinen stated. While specific order details remain confidential, the sheer volume of interactions underscores the fair's effectiveness in generating valuable business leads.
Given the fair's consistent success in connecting them with their global customer base, Mäkinen stated that the company is considering continuing its participation.
ArchiRay LED, a Hong Kong company with 12 years of history, made its debut at this year's Hong Kong International Lighting Fair. Previously focusing on supplying LED products for large-scale local projects in Hong Kong, the company unveiled a brand-new, revolutionary patented product at the fair.
Operation Manager Benjamin Suen stated that while users previously found it difficult to maintain LED products, the company's latest patented product allows them to simply and safely swap out a single chip instead of replacing the entire fixture. This not only saves costs but also offers the flexibility to change beam angles or colour temperatures at any time.
This unique selling point has resonated with international buyers. On the first day of the fair, we have signed an exclusive distributorship agreement worth over HK$1 million with a French company. In just two days, we have already connected with nearly 60 potential customers from markets such as Belgium, South Korea, the Middle East, and the US.
The company already plans to participate again to showcase a more diverse range of products to its customers.
Prosperity Lamps & Components Limited has been deeply rooted in the lighting industry for over four decades as a leading supplier of quality lamps, lighting fixtures, lamp components, and lamp-making machinery.
Participating in the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair since around 2000, this is the most important event in Hong Kong to connect with overseas clients. Traditionally, we met new clients from countries like Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Malaysia, Japan and more, and have continued our partnerships since then. This year, we were able to expand our reach even further and connect with new regions like Russia and Estonia. In total, we made around 100 new contacts at the fair. On average, the clients we meet through HKTDC channels contribute to about 30% of our annual revenue.
Like many in the industry, we were affected by the US-China trade tensions. As a large portion of our traditional client base remains in the US, the disruption has had a real impact. However, the fair has since helped us navigate these challenges by opening up new channels and opportunities with more international clients, including some from African countries such as Ethiopia we met last year.
The consistent exposure and global reach of the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair gave us a platform to not only showcase our latest innovations but also to stay resilient when facing a changing global trade landscape.
MEGAMAN is a global brand dedicated to energy-efficient lighting solutions. Founded in Germany in 1994, we have since launched a full suite of LED luminaires, smart lighting systems, and metal halide replacement LEDs.
We've participated in the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair for over 20 years. The fair has consistently proven to be an excellent international platform, not only to connect us with our existing clients in the UK, France, and Germany, but also for expanding into new regions in the Middle East, Asia, Eastern Europe such as Egypt, Türkiye, Russia, and the Arab states, generating around 70 strong leads. Compared to previous years, the crowd flow and buyer quality have improved significantly. On average, the fair brings in around 10 successful projects each year, and remains an effective way for us to go global, enhance brand exposure, and promote our latest innovations.
The event also provides a valuable lens into industry trends. For instance, we’ve observed a growing demand for lighting solutions that align with ESG principles, which allow parts to be replaced or upgraded with smart functions, rather than being discarded as a whole.
We remain optimistic over further growth potentials with the support of the HKTDC.
Foshan Electrical and Lighting (FSL), established in 1958, is a leading enterprise in China's lighting industry and the first to be publicly listed. As a "China Time-honored Brand," FSL has a history of participating in the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair for nearly 30 years.
Export Division General Manager Jay Zhao stated that the company views "Lighting+," the integration of smart technology and lighting, as the future of the industry. A key highlight of the "full-scene lighting solutions" showcased this time is the smart elderly care lighting. The system uses sensors to monitor the health of the elderly, with features like heart rate and fall detection that can send alerts to family members' phones. The system also incorporates circadian rhythm technology to improve sleep quality. The solution has already been implemented in some high-end nursing homes in the Chinese mainland.
Over the past three days, we have had in-depth discussions with key buyers from the US, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Spain, and the Middle East, making contact with over 100 potential customers.
He described the exhibition as one of the industry's most important events and a necessary window for Chinese companies to reach the world, we will continue to exhibit in Hong Kong in the future.
At the exhibition, new materials company Shenzhen Filmbase (Filmbase) showcased its groundbreaking technology, the transparent LED display film. International Marketing Director Bill Chan stated that this innovative material can be applied to any glass surface, transforming it into a high-definition, transparent video screen. Unlike traditional opaque large-scale LED screens, Filmbase's product allows people inside a building to see the outside scenery, even while content is being displayed.
We had connected with at least 200 potential buyers within three days, including those from Europe (such as Finland and Sweden), the Americas, and Australia. One of them, an Australian lighting company, was particularly excited after learning about the product, believing the technology could upgrade their business from simple coloured lighting to high-definition media displays without the need for complex renovations.
For Filmbase, which already exports to over 100 countries, the main objective of participating was not just to find buyers, but to introduce this brand-new product category to the traditional lighting industry. We specifically praised the HKTDC for creating a platform that allows different industries to converge, enabling the company to showcase its results to the industry.
It is "very possible" we will participate again next year and hopes to facilitate more collaborations with the assistance of the HKTDC.
We import lighting products from the Chinese mainland for the Indonesian market, and the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair serves as an invaluable platform for us to connect with suppliers from the region. During my visit to the fair, I attended eight business matching meetings, exchanged contact details with over 50 suppliers, and placed a sample order.
I purchased LED strips valued at RMB 12,800 (USD 1,800) from Glamor Illumination Limited, a company based in Zhongshan, Guangdong province, as a sample order. If the product performs well for my business, I anticipate placing a further order worth USD 20,000.
At the fair, I observed new technologies that are both well-designed and essential for our business, such as track lighting specifically designed for supermarkets. I also visited the Hall of Connected Lighting and the Hall of Aurora, both of which were very impressive.
I utilised Click2Match and Scan2Match, which I found to be highly convenient. These digital tools provided easier access to supplier information, making the sourcing process more efficient.
I look forward to attending the fair again next year.
We are a lighting design consultancy based in Singapore with over 15 years of experience and hundreds of successful projects and collaborations with government organisations, developers, charities and more. This fair gives us a precious opportunity to look for high-tech, energy-saving solutions, including LED strips and smart systems, for our commercial and residential projects. In just one day, we identified nine potential suppliers—primarily from the Chinese Mainland—and participated in eight business matching meetings. We plan to purchase from two brands and estimate a combined annual purchase value of US$500,000.
The impact of the China-US trade war on our supply chain is negligible, so our sourcing strategy has remained agile.
The digital tools, such as the Click2Match and Scan2Match functions at this fair, were very convenient. They allowed us to efficiently gather and store supplier information digitally. This means we can easily review all the companies we met and conduct further research once we are back in Singapore, which significantly streamlines our purchasing process.
Given the positive experience and the valuable connections made, we would very much hope to participate again next year if given the opportunity.
Our company is a specialist lighting engineering service provider based in Taiwan, primarily focused on sourcing smart home-related products. We participate in the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair every year to connect with suppliers from Chinese mainland.
The establishment of the Hall of Connected Lighting highlights the rapidly growing trend of smart lighting in the industry. This is also a key area of focus for our company.
During the event, I exchanged contact details with over ten suppliers from Chinese mainland and participated in seven business matching meetings. I expect to place orders worth at least USD 10,000 to 20,000.
In the Chinese-speaking regions, the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair is one of the most significant exhibitions and, for many suppliers, the only one they attend. By participating in this fair, we are able to access the latest and best products, which helps us enhance our competitiveness.
Truly Green Solutions primarily provides commercial and residential lighting fixtures in the US. At this fair, I am particularly interested in sourcing closet lighting, hospital lighting, as well as tennis and pool lighting. I primarily purchase from the Chinese mainland.
As a US company purchasing from Chinese mainland suppliers, the US-China tariff presents a significant challenge for our business. With the US-China trade war, the HKTDC Lighting Fair acts as a platform for me to reach out to vendors producing from ASEAN countries including Vietnam and Thailand.
This fair offers valuable insights into the latest market trends. For instance, Circadian Rhythm and Correlated Colour Temperature—lighting systems designed to promote health—are emerging as key innovations in the industry.
I have identified two suppliers with strong potential: LEDiFUTURE from the Chinese mainland and Magnalux from the UK. LEDiFUTURE specialises in vandal-proof lighting, which is essential for hospitals, as well as bed lighting for hospital beds. While this company has not yet obtained US certification, they are committed to achieving it. Once certified, we anticipate spending USD 20,000 per year on their products.
Magnalux offers high-end decorative fixtures, aligning with the new division my company launched last year. I expect to purchase approximately USD 50,000 per year from this company for their premium products.
This fair has been highly beneficial for our global strategy. Our company is expanding into Dubai as a new market, and this fair helped me to meet the needs of our Dubai-based clients at this event.
LEDprofiles s.r.o. specialises in selling LED profiles, LED strips, and BUS control systems to the European market. At the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair, we are always looking for new inspiration, for up-and-coming and innovative solutions yet to be seen and products with strong market potential.
As our eighth time attending the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair, the event could be summarised for its invaluable maintenance of existing business relationships and the discovery of new contacts and products. For our key markets in Europe, we have long relied on suppliers from the Chinese Mainland for their extensive product portfolios and competitive opportunities. The fair provides highly effective means to strengthen our connection with our Chinese counterparts.
On the first day alone, we are already in discussions with around 10 potential suppliers from the Chinese Mainland. If these negotiations go well, we expect to spend around US$300,000 per month with these suppliers. The most promising so far is Shanghai Wellmax Lighting Industry Co., Ltd., particularly for their LED bulbs and LED panels.
All in all, the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair continues to be a key event for us to strengthen our global business network and keep up with recent industry trends.
Our company, Allights, is based in Toronto, Canada. We supply a comprehensive range of indoor, outdoor, commercial, industrial, and residential lighting. The Hong Kong Trade Development Council Lighting Fair is an exceptional one-stop shop for our business. It allows us to find every kind of lighting product in one place, from outdoor and industrial lighting to the latest indoor and strip lighting. My primary objective was to discover new products and stay ahead of market trends, which led me to attend this fair.
I was particularly impressed by the advancements in smart systems, controllers, and the increased luminance and brightness of the latest fixtures. Specialized zones like the Hall of Connected Lighting and the Hall of Aurora were very impactful, showcasing the cutting-edge technology that drives our industry forward, and directly supported me in achieving my goals.
The fair is an incredibly efficient platform for bridging the gap between international buyers like us and the advanced manufacturing market in the Chinese Mainland. I had seven to eight productive business matching meetings in a single day with suppliers from key industrial hubs such as Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and Guangzhou. The quality of exhibitors is outstanding. The suppliers are excellent communicators and very helpful in explaining their products and resolving technical queries. It is far better to see and test the products in person than to order online.
We've identified two promising suppliers, including Shenzhen Filmbase Technology Co., Ltd and Lead-opto-Technology Co.,Ltd from the Chinese Mainland and a wide range of truly innovative products, from new designs in pot lights to a revolutionary film-based signage technology. We deem this fair a success and we expect to spend US$15,000 at this far.
In the current climate, with factors like tariffs caused by the ongoing trade war between The US and the Chinese Mainland impacting business, it’s more important than ever to have a reliable and efficient sourcing partner. The HKTDC platform helps us navigate these complexities by giving us direct access to these evolving supply chains where the manufacturers are smartly adapting, for example by diversifying production to other regions, like Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia.
The HKTDC platform is an effective platform not just for sourcing, but for strategically future proofing our business and exploring new market opportunities. The quality and innovation on display here are unparalleled.
Our company is Axon Lighting Design, established in 2004 in New York City and working on hospitality projects worldwide. We specialize in lighting design and also fabricate custom fixtures.
I have been attending the Hong Kong Trade Development Council Lighting Fair for the last 10 years. I come here to meet my existing vendors, find new ones, and see the latest in technology and global lighting trends. It is an essential platform for expanding my vendor base, connecting with suppliers from countries like the Chinese Mainland, Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand, and India.
The quality of the fair gets better every year. The product quality and variety have improved significantly, and technological advancements are clear. A major benefit is that vendors are now far more flexible; they are open to working with our designs and have manageable minimum order quantities (MOQs). This makes doing business here so much easier.
This fair is the only one where I can really make money and build profitable connections. The impact on our business has been substantial. My commitment to the HKTDC Lighting Fair over the past decade has been a direct driver of my business growth, enabling me to increase my purchasing volume by 200%. The connections forged here in this fair have been tremendously helpful in scaling my order value from approximately US$20,000, to US$40,000, and even up to US$200,000. Thanks to this fair, I have sourced a current shipment of custom light fixtures, valued at US$70,000 for a restaurant.
The ongoing US-China trade war has created significant uncertainty. The threat of sudden tariff increases—potentially jumping from 30% to 150%—makes it financially risky to place orders. The fair helps a lot because it allows me to diversify my suppliers and build direct relationships with factories.
So far, I have had 10 formal business matching meetings arranged by the HKTDC, and the fair’s digital tools, like the scanning function, are incredibly useful for managing contacts and following up efficiently after meeting dozens of suppliers.
I have already identified 2 excellent potential suppliers, including Huayi Lighting for leather lamps and NFK Lite Manufacturing for crystal fixtures from the the Chinese Mainland —both offer high quality and flexible MOQs. This fair is the foundation of my supply chain, and I will definitely be coming back next year.
Gulf Lights Electrical Engineering W.L.L. remains one of the largest lighting suppliers in Qatar. Our goal at the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) is to expand our product portfolio, especially with innovative new LED products from the Chinese Mainland. We have returned to the fair after last year’s success. One major advantage of the fair is that it brings all quality products and suppliers under one roof, allowing us to compare options efficiently, which streamlines our sourcing ability.
Right now, we’re seeing a lot of development in connected lighting, IoT-based systems, and smart lighting solutions, of which we are also very interested.
Currently, I am most interested in Filmbase Tech Holding Group Limited for their LED screens for building facades, and Ningbo Huashi Opto Electronic Technology Co., Ltd for street lighting solutions. We are preparing a project valued at around US$10,000,000, and Filmbase’s unique products are a strong fit for our requirements. It’s a niche offering, but where it’s needed, it brings significant value and large potential for recurring business orders.
Browsing hktdc.com Sourcing, and using Click2Match to review products and exhibitors were crucial in identifying potential suppliers prior to attending the fair. The app allowed me to shortlist seven companies I wanted to meet through the matchmaking meetings, and I visited about ten more at the fair. By the end of the event, I expect to have connected with forty potential suppliers. The Scan2Match function has been very helpful for saving supplier information and keeping track of contacts on-site as well.
The Hong Kong International Lighting Fair is a very, very good event, and we plan to return in the future.
Luminare is based in Brazil and has been in the business for 15 years, importing lighting and design products for the home, such as table lamps, ceiling lights, chandeliers, and pendant lights. As product quality can fluctuate in the lighting market, the fair provides a great solution to staying updated and sourcing reliable suppliers.
It marks the fifth instance I’ve been at the fair, and I’ve always discovered innovative products and recent industry trends, as Brazil is saturated only with similar offerings. For instance, design preferences have shifted from ornate crystal chandeliers to more minimalist and LED-based products. One case in point at the fair is Asialink Comercio Internacional Eirele from Brazil, which focuses on minimalistic and delicate pendant lights. I plan to purchase 200 pieces with an initial order value of about US$15,000 from them, and I expect to generate at least 30 potential business leads by the end of the event.
From today alone, we have already placed an order with Zhongshan Kabo Lighting Technology Co., Ltd. for 150 pieces of Alabaster lights valued at US$30,000, and another order of 300 ceiling lights worth US$20,000 from Dierlang Lighting Factory, a brand I discovered in the Hall of Aurora. Thematic zones like these are ideal, as they allow me to focus on products that match our business needs and save time for meaningful interactions with exhibitors.
From leads gained at HKTDC events, I expect to spend around US$150,000 annually with such reputable suppliers. The Hong Kong International Lighting Fair has proven to be an excellent platform for us to expand globally and enter new markets.Evotech (Thailand) Co., Ltd. has been in the market for 45 years. Targeting architectural lighting, dial lights, tech lights, spotlights, smart lighting systems, and solar lights imports. Having attended the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair for nearly twenty years, it remains an essential platform to stay updated on industry trends and recent innovations. We expect to meet with 20 new suppliers and select around five to establish ongoing partnerships.
At the fair, we have placed an order with Yangzhou Huacai Opto Co., Ltd. for their Colours-branded lighting solutions, amounting to US16,000. Looking ahead, we anticipate our annual dealings with the supplier will reach approximately US$1 million. Moreover, for other projects involving separate suppliers we met at the fair, we expect total orders to exceed US$1 million per year.
Reflecting on our experience over the years, the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair and its location act as an effective platform to go global and discover allow us to new suppliers at ease. The event could act as a perfect stepping stone to Asian markets, facilitating meaningful connections and business expansion on a global scale.
LED's Play, established in 2012, specialises in all types of lighting as a market leader in Morocco, sourcing products such as spot lighting, public lighting, architectural lighting, and more.
At the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair, we are also looking to source LED drivers and luminaires for public or festive lighting and all kinds of light fixtures. As my 12th time attending the Fair, I have to say that Hong Kong’s location and accessibility make it the ideal place to discover new innovations and market trends, something new every year. The fair helps me stay active and up-to-date, above all, such as advancements in LED technology and screens, particularly with the support of the Scan2Match tool in keeping track of all the exhibitors.
With the help of the HKTDC, I am more than happy with the business opportunities I have discovered, having received many matches which are highly relevant to my interests. I have been able to meet with around 20 suppliers, and by the end of the event, I expect to connect with up to 200. The most promising among them is Yangzhou Huacai Opto Co., Ltd. for their Colours brand, which will play a significant role in our upcoming projects, and I expect to spend about US$120,000 with them in the coming year. Another is Filmbase Tech Holding Group Limited for their LED screens, and we will do good business together. Our annual sourcing orders from the Chinese Mainland are projected to reach US$500,000 next year, an increase of US$200,000 from the previous year, thanks in part to the new suppliers we have met at HKTDC’s fairs.
I am confident that next year will be even better. I look forward to returning to Hong Kong and HKTDC’s fairs to come.
Nikkei is a Japanese company with over 40 years of history. According to its Representative Director, Mr. Megumu Onda, the company initially specialised in providing lighting systems for Japanese Pachinko parlours. As the market has changed, the company has strategically pivoted to focus on developing specialised industrial and security lighting solutions.
Mr. Onda has attended the Hong Kong Lighting Fair four or five times over the past decade, and his main objective for this trip is to find suppliers who can offer creative ideas and competitive pricing. He explained, "Our goal is to establish a long-term partnership, with a potential annual order value of around US$2 million." While we already have a solid partnership with suppliers in Taiwan, they are also open to collaborating with excellent manufacturers from any region.
In a challenging global economic environment, a platform like the HKTDC Hong Kong Lighting Fair remains indispensable. Attending the exhibition is not just about saving time in finding suppliers; it is also a vital source of inspiration: "We come here with our own ideas, but we always discover new technologies and concepts that spark different lines of thought. We can then discuss these with suppliers to co-create even better products."
